The Fiscal Council. Annual report for 2017. On Thursday, the 14th of June 2018, the Fiscal Council published the report for 2017.

According to the report, in the context of maintaining the current fiscal-budgetary policy parameters, the 2018 risk balance appears to be significantly sloped to overcome the 3% budget deficit target, having to be adopted corrective measures such as income or cost in order to avoid the excessive deficit procedure.

Romania is among the few countries that reversed the fiscal consolidation trend, being the only EU country with a budget deficit estimated by the European Commission for 2018 and 2019 above the 3% of GDP ceiling. For 2018, according to the Convergence Program 2018-2021, a structural deficit of 0.4% of GDP is projected to increase compared to the previous year. [Source]
