The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (NAFA) modifies forms regarding Social Insurance Contributions for natural persons
On Friday, the 20th of January 2017, the NAFA modified the forms for the ex officio appointment of Social Insurance Contributions for natural persons in case they do not fulfil their declarative duties according to the legal provisions corresponding to art. 106, art. 107, and art. 342, par. (1) from the Law no. 207/2015 in regard to the Fiscal Procedure Code.

The modifications will be applied to all individuals whose earned income stems from individual activities during the following period – 1st of July 2012 to 31st of December 2015.

The Romanian President’s official visit at the Council of Europe
On the 24th and the 25th of January, 2017, the Romanian President held his official visit at the Council of Europe in Stratsbourg where he met with Thorbjørn Jagland, Pedro Agramunt, Gianni Buquicchio, and Guido Raimondi. The purpose of this visit is to reiterate the Romanian support of the Concil’s values and standards, and to emphasise the importance of the Council’s role in regard to Romania’s shaping as a viable state. In addition, the President held a speech to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in order to engage in an open and constructive dialogue on issues relevant to democracy, the state of law, and human rights in Europe.

Klaus Iohannis inaugurated, along with Thorbjørn Jagland, the Secretary General, and Nicos Anastasiades, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, an exhibition dedicated to the victims of the Holocaust – Education and Memory. The Holocaust in Romania.

Budgetary measures in 2017, delay of certain terms, modification and bill extension
On Monday, the 23rd of January 2017, the Ministry of Public Finances launched the Project concerning the Government’s Emergency Ordinance into public debate; this Ordinance regards some budgetary measures in 2017, delay of certain terms, modification and bill extension.

NAFA modifies the procedure for publishing the lists with remaining tax liabilities
On Thursday, the 26th of January 2017, The National Agency for Fiscal Administration put forward the modification of the procedure regarding the publishing of lists with the remainder of tax liabilities, specifically the lower limits of the total amount of remaining tax liabilities which no longer are published on the website, according to a report by NAFA.

These limits are:

  1. 500.000 lei, for high taxpayers
  2. 250.000 lei, for medium taxpayers
  3. 100.000 lei, for other categories of debtors, including natural persons with remaining tax liabilities from economical ventures exercised independently or from freelance work
  4. 15.000 lei, for taxpayers who are natural people, other than those from c)
